Editing and Proofreading Creative Texts

Humanitas works in partnership with the literary agency Life Lines Bookwriting, which offers a range of services to clients aiming to publish fiction, or non-fiction for non-specialist audiences. Humanitas undertakes the copyediting and proofreading of manuscripts that have already undergone developmental editing, or have been created from scratch, by Life Lines.

Our joint services with Life Lines include:

Editing and proofreading memoirs, literary fiction, historical fiction, creative non-fiction, women’s fiction and creative writing dissertations.

In addition, Life Lines offers to ghostwrite clients’ memoirs, (but not academic assignments). The agency offers an all-in-one service, researching, composing and producing memoirs, in either printed or multi-media form.

Lifelines’ other services include:

  • Book coaching, working with authors on book plans and on every stage of their manuscripts in a set number of conferences, focusing on a) structure/approach, and b) key passages.

  • Assessment of manuscripts intended for publication.

  • Publication submission packages, for works of fiction. These packages, involving letters, ‘tasters’ and ‘elevator pitches’ -(brief introductions) - to whet publishers’ appetites for a manuscript, are a key part of the publishing process.
