We also offer private tuition in academic English writing to students of the humanities and social sciences, subject areas where cultural nuances and human empathy can be the keys to communication, and AI assisted editing software regularly falls short.

  • Clients for whom English is a second language (ESL) are not a separate category for our academic and student services. They are our usual clients, and they pay the usual price.

  • We run our business as a cooperative, so nearly all of our clients' fees go directly to the editors who have worked on their manuscripts. We don't outsource the work to non-native speakers. Every manuscript matters to us. That's why our clients appreciate us, as their testimonials show.

  • We offer clients the option of paying by instalments (chapters or sections) for a copyedit and proofread of any document. This means that the client pays for each chapter or section in advance and can terminate the order if they are not satisfied. In this way, we can assist clients at different stages in the writing process, and they can ensure that the proofreading/editing consistently meets your requirements.

  • We take our clients’ confidentiality extremely seriously. All of our staff have signed confidentiality agreements and will not disclose client files or information to anyone outside Humanitas. We will sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), with any client who requests this.

  • If a client is dissatisfied with our work and can show fair justification, we will offer either a full or partial refund or a re-edit. If you ask us to do further editing or proofreading of a document after you have rewritten some sections of it, we will charge only for editing or proofreading substantially rewritten sections, at a 50% discount.
